I have practiced family law in California since 1997 and I have been a Family Law Specialist, certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California, since 2011.  I handle the full spectrum of family law matters, including the termination of marital status, property division (with an emphasis on complex financial matters and discovery), spousal support, child custody, child support, and premarital agreements.  In California, I practice primarily in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Most recently, I was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in November, 2025, and I practice in Deschutes County.  With advances in remote technologies and the automation of the court system, I am able to seamlessly and successfully represent clients in both California and Oregon.

After graduating from Harvard University in 1987 with a degree in Medieval European History, I graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1996.

I started my family law career as an associate attorney with the Law Offices of John E. Miller in Palo Alto in 1997. As my experience and skills were honed, I partnered with John Miller in 2001 and practiced as MILLER & PACHKOWSKI in Palo Alto and Mountain View, respectively, until John’s retirement in 2010. Subsequently, I formed STEINER & PACHKOWSKI, an Association of Attorneys, in 2011 with my good friend and colleague, P. Jack Steiner, another Certified Family Law Specialist.

Although I was raised in New Jersey, I have lived in California for 36 years and Oregon for the last two years.  I am the very proud father of two adult daughters and two very cute dogs.   I enjoy cooking, hiking, biking and skiing in my spare time.
